A permanent DDoS is known also as phlashing. It is basically an attack which damages a system so terribly that the damage is irreparable and the hardware must be either replaced or reinstalled. Known as a Permanent Denial of Services (PDoS), it is an attack that exploits security flaws such as routers, printers, and all other typed of networking hardware. A device’s firmware will be modified or corrupted by a defective firmware image, an attack which is known as flashing. This action renders the device unusable for its original purpose until the device is replaced or repaired.

A PDoS is a particularly dangerous attack, more dangerous than a sumple DoS as it acts much faster and requires much fewer resources. The technique has begun to be employed by various hacking communities due to the speed at which is takes effect and also due to the fact that very few resources are needed. Oh dear, the online community is going to have to watch out for this sort of activity as it particularly dangerous!
